Windows Update stucks on Windows 7
Microsoft changed the Update mechanism in Windows, and if you have a pretty old Windows 7 installation, the Windows Update Service will take forever to find and apply patches.

Prerequisites↑
- Installed Windows 7 SP 1
- Download the following packages:
- Windows Update Service fix
- April 2015 update
- Julay 2016 update
Installation↑
Stop Windows Update Service↑
- Open Control Panel - Administration Tools - Services
- Search for
Windows Update Service
and stop it
Install Windows Update Service fix↑
- Start the installer and go through the sections.
Install April 2015 fix↑
- Open Control Panel - Administration Tools - Services
- Search for
Windows Update Service
and stop it - Start the installer and go through the sections.
Install July 2016 fix↑
- Open Control Panel - Administration Tools - Services
- Search for
Windows Update Service
and stop it - Start the installer and go through the sections.
Updating Windows↑
If the configuration was successful, Windows Update now should find the new patches and you can install them.
